Islamic Forum of Europe deplores Burmese violence against minority Rohingya

Islamic Forum of Europe deplores the lack of international reaction to the systematic human rights abuses and violence suffered by Burma's Rohingya population.

The Muslim minority Rohingya have been beaten, raped and killed, by both security forces and ethnic Rakhine Buddhists according to the rights group Amnesty International. These atrocities must not be ignored, Islamic Forum of Europe urges the Foreign Secretary, William Hague to demand the Burmese government end these abuses and respect the human rights of the Rohingya. Despite being denied citizenship by Burma, they still have rights as human beings.

Bangladesh for its part must also be urged by Mr Hague to accept the fleeing Rohingya as refugees, instead of returning them to a violent fate. Islamic Forum of Europe, along with the world Muslim community, stands ready to support Rohingya Muslims in this humanitarian cause.
